Armando Lopes Moreno Junior, born in Brazil, received his bachelor's degree in Civil engineering from the State University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, in 1986, received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from State University of São Paulo, Brasil, in 1992 and 1996, respectively. He carried out extensive research in structural fire safety field. In 1988, he joined the faculty of Civil Engineering (FEC) of State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), where he is currently a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Structures (DES). Professor Moreno has established unique fire test facilities and acclaimed research program in structural fire engineering at FEC-UNICAMP. His research has focused on the experimental behavior of structural systems under extreme fire conditions, material properties at elevated temperatures and fire resistance design of structural systems. Dr. Moreno has advised around 100 students in postdoctoral researchers, Ph.D, M.S and undergraduate researchers over the last 25 years.
